- La diada de Sant Jordi en Catalonia - 23 of April

Sant Jordi (Saint George) is the patron saint of Catalonia.
The legend says that St. George was fighting the wicked dragon that held the princess captive. Finally St. George kills the dragon and on the spot where the dragons blood was spilled a rose grew as a symbol of love and friendship.
April 23rd was not only famous because of the legend of St. George, but also because it is the anniversary of the death of two great writers: Cervantes and Shakespeare.
On this day, the main tradition in Catalonia is to exchange gifts -- men give their gilrfriends roses, and women give their boyfriends a book.
Is often compared to Valentine's Day.
Well, love is definitely in the air.
